Here are some facts about our efforts to be gentler to the environment at OBaby Diaper Service:
By using our washable re-usable cloth diapers you do away with tossable "single use diaper" garbage.
By using our washable re-usable diaper pail liners you do away with throw away plastic garbage bag liners.
Cleaning and Delivering
- Laundry Detergent At OBaby Diaper Service our detergent contains no phosphates and is biodegradable. It is also dye and fragrance fee. The detergent we use has NOT been tested on animals and contains no animal by-products. It also contains no optical brighteners or fillers. Obviously, it is gentle for sensitive skin. Phosphate detergents are a major cause of pollution in our lakes and streams. Even biodegradable phosphate detergents are harmful to water life. As a result, many states have banned phosphate detergents.
- Equipment Our equipment is Ecosmart, sanitizes and is Energy Star rated.
- Transportation Currently our delivery vehicles have a MPG rating of 34 city and 40 highway. Our next vehicles will be hybrids
Reducing Landfill and Chemicals
- Reduce the amount of "single use diapers " that are being added to our landfills. Some of these materials do not decompose for hundreds of years. According to John Shiffert, executive director of the National Association of Diaper Services, these are the facts: the average baby goes through 5,000 diapers before being potty-trained. Because 95 percent of these diaper changes are disposable diapers, most of them end up in landfills.
- "Single use diapers" leak toxic chemicals into our landfills and these toxins find there way into our community water supplies. This would not happen using OBaby Diaper Service.
- We recycle at our office.
- We promote recycling at home.
- We use recycled material whenever and wherever possible.
